VY Studios LLC — Wyoming, USA

An independent software studio building native mobile applications.

VY Studios LLC designs, engineers, and maintains mobile applications for iOS and Android. We work on one project at a time, from the first sketch through the long tail of releases that follows it.

Practice

Three parts of the same job

We handle design, engineering, and operations ourselves rather than passing work between vendors. It keeps decisions close to the people who have to live with them.

Product design

Interface and interaction, and the decisions that come before either — what the product is for, who it is for, and what it will deliberately refuse to do. Most of the work happens here, before a line of code is written.

Engineering

Native applications for iOS and Android, written in Swift and Kotlin and distributed through the App Store and Google Play, together with the backend services they depend on.

Operations

Releases, crash reporting, support correspondence, privacy compliance, and the unglamorous maintenance that decides whether software survives its first year. Shipping is the middle of a project, not the end of it.

Approach

How we work

A small studio cannot compete on volume, so it competes on attention. Four rules follow from that, and we hold to them even when it costs us work.

01

One project at a time

The studio takes on a single product and gives it full attention until it ships. Nothing runs in parallel, so nothing gets the leftovers of someone else's week.

02

Built in house

Design and engineering sit together. There is no agency to brief, no handoff document to misread, and nobody waiting three days for an answer that takes three minutes.

03

Boring technology

We choose tools for how well they age, not for how new they are. Fewer dependencies means fewer forced migrations and fewer mornings spent repairing something that used to work.

04

Quiet until it is ready

We do not announce work in progress or publish roadmaps. When something is finished, it appears here. Until then this page stays as it is, which we consider a feature rather than an omission.

No contact form and no ticket queue — one address, read by the person who builds the product. Say what you need in the first sentence.
